Presently, televisions and radio advertisements are flooding the airwaves with alternative medicines in the form of herbal food supplements. The reason why there are many alternative medicine advertisements is because people have gone crazy over the herbal food supplements thinking that the "cure all" promised by the marketers is true.

The emergence of such craze is mainly because of the ever growing percentage of young people who are getting more and more prone to diseases. Diseases that is usually common to people ages 50 and above have now become increasingly found in the younger generation. It seems that the calling of being an "art of healing" of the usual western medicine has failed.

The search for the ultimate herb has never stopped and recently another herb, namely flaxseeds, is gaining popularity among the masses. Used as far as 5, 000 BC in Egypt, Greece and Rome, flaxseeds was said to be worshipped because of its "magical powers" to promote healing in the intestine and skin imperfections, to improve health and to boost up energy.

Though flaxseeds have been widely used a long time ago, it has been only recently that strong recommendation for its consumption has been released by top health professionals. The medicine and herbal world are now actively seizing this opportunity to commercialize the use of flaxseed for profit.

Flaxseeds are composed of 30% fiber and 40% healthy fat. Its high fiber content allows flaxseeds to improve hypoglycemia and diabetes condition. It also decreases the chances of having heart diseases, coronary artery diseases and stroke. Flaxseeds also contain lignans, which help the heart and also contain anti-cancer properties, and Omega 3 fatty acids, which nourishes the brain and give a healthy glow to the skin and hair. Also, when Omega 3 is combined with fiber, it helps in hastening the burning of fat by making person's metabolism to burn at a higher rate.
