The defining factor to knowing the hand orientation in bows is the dominant eye of the archer. Determining the dominant eye is simple and easy and can be done anywhere at any time. All one needs to do is to stretch both hands out in a palms out manner and overlap the index fingers and the thumbs to create a diamond shaped hole in the center. The hands will naturally be drawn to the dominant eye as the focus on the object will not change; when the hands are drawn to the left eye, the archer is a left hand bow hunter. Left hand bows are easy to find; it is held with the right hand while the string is drawn by the left. The simplest identifying mark is that the arrow rest is located on the left side of the riser and the left eye is used to focus the target on the prey. There are a few factors one must bear in mind when planning to engage in bow hunting. The location and the terrain must be ventured at ahead of the season; this will enable the hunter to get the upper hand in knowing the territory to which their prey roams. This will also provide one the ability to create a strategy as to how they will approach the hunt and where it is best advised to have their posts to wait for the game. In some cases you might even have to sit on a different angle than they do. This is to counterbalance the fact that you will be shooting your bow with a different hand. Patience is a very valuable and important trait a good bow hunter must have as the prey may take a while before they go anywhere near one's chosen spot as well as when stalking - this is vital so as not to drive the game away due to any sudden moves out of boredom.
