A visit to the Smoky Mountains in Tennessee will tick off all off your festive fantasy wish list.

During the festive season the Smoky Mountains take on a whole new complexion as it portrays all year round. During the year it remains a popular spot, but during the winter season it begins to come to life. The lights begin to sparkle all over, shops, restaurants, hotels emanate gorgeous colours, and the sound of carols begin echo throughout the town.

There are attractions to suit all needs and desires. If you are with family, then its best to decide what you wish to do and then choose from the multitude of attractions on offer so that you get the best experience possible. There is the Ober Gatlinburg ski resort for those who enjoy snow sports and ice skating. For those who love a bit of wildlife, the aquarium is sure to impress. And for those seeking Santa, the Christmas Palace is the place to be.

For those who enjoy a bit of wildlife, there is Ripleys aquarium, sure to be a favorite with the kids. And lets not forget the incredible Christmas Palace that is truly beautiful and is sure to be enjoyed by all.

It is, however, impossible to go to the Smoky Mountains without visiting Clingmans Dome. Standing tall at 6643 feet, it is the highest point in Tennessee. From here you'll be able to see into seven states from the observation tower, assuming it is a clear day.

Other attractions include the Dollywood theme park with a multitude of rides and action as well as the Space Needle with it observation deck and arcade zone at the bottom for the teenagers in the family.

Yet the prize piece for the family if you're seeking festive cheer is the Christmas Palace. Going there is like transporting yourself straight into the North Pole and Lapland. Beautiful light and decorations sparkle all over whilst Santa pops his head around every other corner. Come in December and you're sure to see the singing Santa captivating children with his wonderful festive songs. There really is no place quite like it for the whole family to enjoy and it would not be surprising if its became a lasting family tradition, staying in your mind long after you are gone.
